In our every-day normal life.. we lose our inner equilibrium.
Challenging situations knock us down.
It’s like life always finds our weakness.. eventually.
When we sense that a situation may be about to turn ‘bad’.. we can feel a sensation of energetic ‘tensing’ happening inside of us.
We either try to avoid the situation.. or ‘brace’ ourselves. We experience feelings of inner resistance against the ‘bad’.
We all do it.
It’s natural.
Or is it?
When we resist ‘polarity’ (((night and day.. good and bad.. cold and hot.. pleasure and pain))).. we resist a natural law.
We do not realise this at the time.
The bright side of the moon.. requires the dark side as well. It can take a lifetime to accept ‘the bad’ as the price of ‘the good’.
Resisting pain or discomfort is understandable. After all.. as we ‘grow up’.. we are taught to control our behaviour.. to focus on ‘the good’.. and to work towards ‘bettering ourselves’.
If we only knew.. that feelings of inner resistance are what traps us.. keeps us recycling old patterns.. locked in to past ways.
We may choose to make some changes.. and things go well for a little while.. but then.. something always happens.
We automatically resist the discomfort of change.. and don’t even realise we are doing it.. because it is automatic and outside conscious control.
So.. how can we choose greater and new ways of living.. when something in us resists it?
How can we retrain these inner aspects of self to embrace the inevitable discomforts of growth or evolution?
First.. we befriend our inner landscape.
We notice and observe when we resist sensations.. feelings.. emotions.. wounds.. hurt.
We notice when we crave.. desire.. hunt for pleasure.. chase highs.. when we hold onto staying ‘up’.
We observe when we fantasise about peaks.. wins.. goals.. achievements -destinations in the future.
We learn to FEEL what it is like to crave and yearn.. what it is like to tense up.. resist.. and avoid uncomfortable situations.
Over time.. this self-observation helps us realise where we are trying to protect ourselves from pain.
And.. over time.. we realise that as we are avoiding parts of life.. even though we don’t mean to.. we are avoiding life itself.
We come to realise through insight and direct experience.. that when we reject a part of the whole.. we reject the whole.. not realising this is the case.
Through feeling and sensing.. we observe our inner landscape.. noticing how and where and when we are resisting a situation (((resisting life as it is in the moment))).
It helps us see and feel and know where a moment is seen as ‘not good enough’ (mundane.. not sacred).
This points us to noticing where we hold a deeply held belief that WE ourselves are ‘not good enough’.
We realise that when we are resisting a moment or situation as ‘not good enough’.. we are not able to accept ourselves.. and not-as-yet-able to receive life as it appears at that time.
Life is only possible through 'duality'. The existence of polar opposites is a universal law of all creation.
When we embrace these polarities.. relaxing the feeling of inner resistance.. we begin to befriend life.. and are more likely to be at ease with its ups and downs -even enjoying the ride.
In fact.. we discover.. that the more we can open ourselves.. to fully feel what we avoided and what made us uncomfortable.. the more we start to feel a delight that requires no reason or cause.
Then we experience Causeless Delight.
This sounds foreign to the mature adult mind.
To the young child that hasn't as yet had a toy or a device pressed into their hands.. it is their natural state. For the ‘grown up’ however.. this has to be rediscovered.
For the adult that rediscovers this innocence.. it isn't just causeless delight that is on the menu.
We can experience causeless pleasure.
This is where our sceptical mind meets its limits and says “hang on a minute.. WTF?”.
Pleasure without 'a because' defies comprehension. There is a reason why big experiences are described as "it blew my mind".
Causeless pleasure makes no sense to common logic. It evades understanding.
And yet.. who wouldn't want it? It would sell if you could package it.
The thing is.. this is also a natural State of Being -available to the human who has chosen to evolve their former self.. to something greater than their past.
We are all capable of experiencing this through befriending our inner world.. leaning into our resistances.. our pain-points.. and building our capacity to feel and sense and know our inner world fully.
We come to realise that the outside world is mirroring our inner world.. and that external drama can not stop without addressing inner drama.. as ‘the root cause’.
We can spend our entire lives ‘putting out fires’.. managing our lives with perfection. But another ‘fire’ always comes to give us a reason to ‘fix’ yet another thing.
When we are ready to evolve.. then our old way of life stops making sense. We decide to break the loop.
At that point.. we have chosen to improve our life by addressing what can only be healed within.
If and when we choose this.. we are choosing to Unlock Greater Ways of Being.
With practice.. we come to know causeless delight.
And if we are truly courageous.. causeless pleasure ; )
